Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said Thursday his big-hitting opener Virender Sehwag will be missed during the ICC World Twenty20.
'Sehwag is such a dangerous player at the top of the order and unsettles rival bowlers. He will certainly be missed,' Dhoni said at a press conference at Lord's ahead of India's Super Eight match against the West Indies on Friday.
But Dhoni was quick to add that it was great to have in-form Rohit Sharma open the innings for India.
Sehwag was ruled out of the World Twenty20 because of a shoulder injury without playing a single match. Sehwag said he was injured during the Indian Premier League semifinal and it led to speculation that the opener did not come clean with his injury.
Dhoni had refused to comment on Sehwag's injury and lost his cool at a press conference when scribes enquired about Sehwag's fitness.
Asked whether he has a special plan to tackle West Indies captain Chris Gayle, Dhoni said it is difficult to contain an explosive batsman like him with any plan.
Dhoni said his boys were ready for the high-intensity encounter.
